
Arslan Earns Season’s First Player of the Week Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After two game-winning goals propelled the West Virginia University men's soccer team to a 2-0 start to the season last weekend in California, senior Jad Arslan has been named the MAC Player of the Week, the Mid-American Conference announced today.
An All-MAC First Team honoree a season ago, this is Arslan's third MAC Player of the Week accolade. He also was recognized once in 2016 and once as a freshman in 2014.
Arslan scored goals in both of WVU's games last weekend, a 1-0 win at Cal on Friday and again at Santa Clara in a 2-0 win on Sunday.
On the season-opening weekend, Arslan led the country with two game-winning goals and led the MAC with 1.00 goals per game and two total goals. He was second in the conference with four points and third with 2.00 points per game. Arslan also led the Mountaineers with three shots, two on goal.
The Roswell, Georgia, native has 13 career goals and five game-winning tallies.
In addition to earning MAC honors, Arslan was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Men's Team of the Week for the second time in his career. Yesterday, he was named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week.
West Virginia returns home to host Wright State on Friday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. ET. The home opener at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is a Dollar Day, with all tickets and select concession items available for just $1.
