Football Announces Additional Signee

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University football coach Dana Holgorsen has announced that Fontez Davis, a 6-0, 194-pound cornerback from Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas, has signed a letter of intent and grant in aid for the 2017-18 academic year.

- Played in nine games for coach Tim Schaffner at Butler CC
- Recorded 36 tackles, including 25 unassisted, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble and one interception returned for a touchdown
- Helped lead Butler CC to a 7-5 record, an appearance in the Salt City Bowl and a No. 17 national ranking among junior colleges
- Had two solo tackles and returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown against Hutchinson
- Registered five tackles, including four solo, against Highland
- Assisted on three tackles at Garden City
- Finished with a season-high nine tackles against Dodge City, including six solo tackles and three pass breakups
- Had three tackles at Iowa Western, including one unassisted tackle and a pass breakup
- Returned a blocked extra point 90 yards for a two-point conversion against Air Force Prep
- Recorded eight tackles at Fort Scott, including seven solo stops and two pass breakups

- Had 34 catches for 627 yards, an 18.4 yards per catch average and four touchdowns
- Registered nine carries for 52 yards and four returns for 34 yards and a touchdown
- As a junior, he helped lead Edwardsville to a 12-1 record, Southwestern Conference championship, semifinals of the state playoffs and No. 13 ranking in the state
- Finished with 39 catches for 635 yards, two touchdowns and had four tackles
