
Trio Earn Scholar All-Region Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three student-athletes from the West Virginia University women's soccer team were named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-South Region Teams.
Junior defender Bianca St. Georges was named to the first team, while classmates and fellow defenders Easther Mayi Kith and Vanessa Flores were named to the second and third teams, respectively.
The honors are the first career recognitions for all three athletes. The scholar all-region awards are the first for the Mountaineers since a pair of student-athletes were honored in 2015.
A native of St. Felix de Valois, Quebec, St. Georges boasts a 4.0 grade point average (GPA) in exercise physiology and was named an Academic All-America First Team honoree by the College Sports Information Directors of America last week. A two-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, she also was named to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Newcomer Team. St. Georges, a President's List honoree, has also been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.
A 2017 team co-captain, St. Georges has started 59 of 60 career matches. Named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team, she also landed on the All-Big 12 First Team this year.
A native of Quebec City, Quebec, Mayi Kith shows a 3.88 GPA in exercise physiology. A two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree and a member of the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Newcomer Team, she also has been named to the President's and Dean's Lists, as well as the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.
Mayi Kith has started 66 of 70 career matches and was named to the 2017 All-Big 12 Second Team.
Flores, a native of Baytown, Texas, boasts a 3.55 GPA in exercise physiology. She also is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree and was a member of the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Newcomer Team. Flores also has been named to the President's and Dean's Lists, as well as the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.
Flores has started 29 of 45 career matches and was named to the 2017 All-Big 12 Second Team.
The trio helped the Mountaineer backline post 13 shutouts this season. Collectively, they earned four Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week awards. St. Georges finished second on the team with six assists and ranked sixth with 10 points (2 G, 6 A). Flores added three points on one goal and one assist.
