KALAMAZOO, Mich. – West Virginia University seniors Jad Arslan and Steven James have been recognized on the All-MAC Team, announced by the Mid-American Conference on Thursday.
Arslan was named to the All-MAC First Team, while James earned second team accolades. Arslan is on the All-MAC First Team for the second consecutive year and James is honored by the league for the first time in his career.
"Congratulations to Jad and Steven for earning these awards," WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. "Both have worked very hard and have played an important role in the team's success so far."
Arslan becomes the fifth Mountaineer to earn multiple All-MAC Team honors and joins Andy Bevin as the only players with multiple first team accolades. WVU has had at least two honorees in each of its six years in the league.
A Roswell, Georgia, native, Arslan leads the team and is second in the MAC with three game-winning goals. He ranks second on the team with four goals and nine points and has a team-leading 35 shots. Arslan has played in all 18 games in his senior season with 17 starts, logging 1,492 minutes.
James has helped the WVU defense to nine shutouts this season, tied for fifth-most in a season in program history. A Sussex, England, native, James has started all 18 matches and has played 1,712 of the team's 1,715 minutes.
Arslan, James and the Mountaineers open postseason play in the MAC Championship semifinals at top-seeded and No. 4-ranked Western Michigan on Friday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. ET. A complete preview is available at WVUsports.com.
