MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men's basketball coach Bob Huggins has announced that Jordan McCabe has signed a national letter of intent for the 2018-19 academic year.
McCabe, a 6-foot, 175-pound guard from Kaukauna, Wisconsin, is currently in his senior year at Kaukauna High, playing for coach Michael Schalow.
For his junior and sophomore seasons, McCabe was named a Wisconsin First Team All-State selection by the Associated Press. As a junior, he averaged 25.1 points per game and enters his senior season with 1,694 career points.
McCabe was a unanimous First Team All-Fox Valley Association selection and a unanimous First-Team Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State in Division 2.
"Obviously, Jordan brings a much-needed skill level to our point guard position," Huggins said. "He is an extremely-skilled passer, ball handler and exceptional shooter. I am confident that Mountaineer fans will enjoy his skill set."
As a sophomore, McCabe helped Kaukauna win the WIAA Division 2 state basketball title, averaging 25 points, 6.1 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. He earned the Fox Valley Association's Player of the Year, Post-Crescent Media Athlete of the Year honors and was named the USA Today Network-Wisconsin Northeast Wisconsin Player of the Year for boys' basketball.
McCabe joins Derek Culver (Boardman, Ohio/Warren G. Harding High/Brewster Academy [N.H.]) and Andrew Gordon (Clearwater, Florida/Dunedin High/ Northwest Florida State College) in the 2018-19 recruiting class.
The November signing period continues through next Wednesday.
