MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's soccer team moves up one spot to No. 8 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll.
 
The Mountaineers' (9-3, 2-1) upward swing follows a 1-0 victory at Kansas State on Sept. 29. The squad is 5-1 in its last six matches.
 
The top five remains unchanged. UCLA (10-0-1, 3-0 Pac-12) continues to rank No. 1, and Stanford (10-1, 3-0 Pac-12) and South Carolina (10-1, 4-0 SEC) follow at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Duke (11-1, 4-0 ACC) sits at No. 4, and North Carolina (8-2, 4-0 ACC) ranks No. 5.
 
USC (8-1-1, 2-0-1 Pac-12) and Texas (11-0-1, 3-0-1) precede the Mountaineers at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. Florida (9-2, 3-1 SEC) ranks No. 9, and UCF (7-1-1, 3-0-1 AAC) sits at No. 10.
 
Oklahoma State (10-1-2, 3-0), the Mountaineers' next opponent, checks in at No. 25 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll.
 
The Mountaineers also moved up to a season-high No. 7 in this week's NCAA RPI. South Carolina continues to own the No. 1 spot. Stanford ranks No. 2, North Carolina is No. 3, Duke is No. 4 and UCF is No. 5. Princeton (9-1, 2-0 Ivy) sits at No. 6, and Texas follows WVU at No. 8. UCLA and Tennessee (10-1-1, 2-1-1 SEC) round out the top 10.
 
WVU also ranks No. 9 in this week's TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Division I Top 25 National Rankings and No. 11 in the Soccer America Women's Top 25.
 
The Cowgirls rank as high as No. 19 in the TDS.com Rankings. OSU also ranks No. 21 in the Soccer America Top 25.
 
The Mountaineers return to Morgantown for the first of three straight weekends at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. WVU opens against the Cowgirls on Friday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. It's Soctoberfest, and specialty German food and beverage options will be available at the concession stands. The squad will then kick against Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. Sunday is the team's annual Pink Match, and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness month. Additionally, Sunday is a Dollar Day, and all tickets will be available for $1 each.
