WVU Again No. 4 in NSCAA Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For the second straight week, the West Virginia University women’s soccer team sits at No. 4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Poll.
The ranking sets up a top-10 showdown on Friday, as the Mountaineers (5-0-1) will travel to Durham, North Carolina, on Friday, Sept. 9, for a match at No. 6 Duke (4-1-1). WVU has faced at least one ranked opponent each week this season and shows a 2-0-1 mark against ranked teams, including a 1-0 record against top-10 ranked teams.
Florida State (3-1) continues to rank No. 1 despite losing at South Alabama, 1-0, on Sept. 5. Stanford (5-0) and Virginia (6-0) rank No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, and Florida (4-1) follows WVU at No. 5.
BYU (4-1) sits behind the Blue Devils at No. 7, and North Carolina (4-0-1) ranks No. 8. UCLA (3-1) and Minnesota (5-1) round out the top 10.
Texas Tech (4-1-1), the only other ranked Big 12 Conference team, enters the poll this week at No. 22.
The Mountaineers also rank No. 4 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s Top 25 Poll, as announced Sept. 5. Of note, the squad checks in at No. 2 in today’s Soccer America Women’s Top 25.
WVU and Duke will kick on Friday at 7 p.m., at Koskinen Stadium. The match will be streamed on WatchESPN.
