WVU, ROOT Extend Partnership Through 2022

ROOT SPORTS announced today a new, extended relationship with West Virginia University that will bring Mountaineer programming to the network’s slate of Wild & Wonderful Sports through the 2021-2022 academic year.
The five-year extension will begin this fall with West Virginia University football and will mark the sixth season of Wild & Wonderful Sports programming on ROOT SPORTS, demonstrating the network’s strong commitment to providing meaningful and superior collegiate sports coverage to its viewers.
Under the extended Wild & Wonderful Sports line-up, ROOT SPORTS will produce and air this season:
- One (1) 2016 West Virginia University Football Game (aired Sept. 10)
- Eight (8) 2016-17 West Virginia University Men’s Basketball Games
- Two (2) 2016-17 West Virginia University Women’s Basketball Games
The network will also televise:
- West Virginia University Football Press Conferences with Head Coach Dana Holgorsen
- Additional 2016 West Virginia University Football Games if available
- West Virginia University Coaches Shows
- West Virginia University Football Pregame Shows (Mountaineer Gameday)
The new five-year agreement guarantees ROOT SPORTS coverage of at least one Mountaineer football game each season, plus will feature extensive coverage of WVU men’s and women’s basketball and other sports.
