Four Matches Set for National Audience

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Big 12 Conference, ESPN and FOX Sports announced this morning that five league soccer contests will be telecast on ESPNU and FOX Sports Regional Networks (FSN) during the 2016 campaign.
The No. 6-ranked and four-time reigning Big 12 Conference regular-season champion West Virginia University women’s soccer team will be featured in three of these telecasts, including two home matches at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Mountaineers’ home match against Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 2, will be broadcast on ESPNU at 3 p.m. ET. The match was previously scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
Two weeks later, ESPNU will televise the conference showdown between WVU and No. 19-ranked Texas Tech on Friday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. ET, from Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers claimed the Big 12’s regular-season title in 2015, while the Red Raiders earned the conference’s postseason title. The match was previously scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers’ final road conference match of 2016 also will be televised, as FSN will carry the team’s match at Texas on Sunday, Oct. 23. Kick from Mike A. Myers Stadium will now be at 6 p.m. ET.
FS1 also will provide a live broadcast of the 2016 Big 12 Soccer Championship final at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 6. The conference championship again will be held at Swope Soccer Village, in Kansas City, Mo.
Additionally, the Mountaineers’ 2016 season opener at No. 2-ranked and defending National Champion Penn State on Friday, Aug. 19, will be televised live on the Big Ten Network (BTN) at 7:30 p.m.
The Mountaineers conclude the preseason portion of their schedule on Sunday, Aug. 14, with a 1 p.m. exhibition at No. 4-ranked Virginia.
