MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team moved up three spots to No. 4 in today’s National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Poll.
Today’s position is the Mountaineers’ (3-0-1) first inside the poll’s top five this season and the team’s highest in the NSCAA Poll since earning a No. 4 ranking in the final regular-season poll last year. WVU earned a top-five ranking in the NSCAA Poll each of the last 12 weeks of the 2015 season.
Florida State (3-0) continues to rank No. 1, while Stanford (3-0) and Virginia (4-0) move up one spot to No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Florida (3-1) also moved up one spot and ranks No. 5.
Despite losing to the Mountaineers, 1-0, on Aug. 26, Clemson (3-1) moved up two spots to No. 6 this week. Duke (3-1) dropped five spots to No. 7, and North Carolina (3-0) follows at No. 8. Minnesota (4-0) and BYU (2-1) round out the top 10.
No other Big 12 Conference team is ranked this week.
The Mountaineers also rank No. 4 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women’s Top 25 Poll, as announced Aug. 29.
