2016 Promotional Slate Revealed

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Multiple deals and celebrations for the No. 6-ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer team’s Aug. 26 home-season opener at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, including a Dollar Night special, highlight the Mountaineers’ 2016 promotional slate.
“Throughout my 21-year coaching career at WVU, I have always maintained the Mountaineer fans’ passion and enthusiasm help make Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium one of the nation’s toughest venues for opponents to play in,” Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown said. “I’m excited for 2016 – I think Mountaineer Nation will enjoy watching these student-athletes play in Morgantown.”
The four-time reigning Big 12 Conference champion Mountaineers open their 2016 home season against No. 8 Clemson on Friday night, and it is the first of three Dollar Nights planned for the year. All tickets, popcorn, small drinks and bags of Skittles will be available for $1 each. Additionally, it’s Poster Night, and all fans in attendance will receive a free Mountaineer schedule poster. It’s also a Gold Rush, and fans are encouraged to wear gold in support of the Mountaineers.
Dollar Day promotions also are scheduled for the Purdue match on Thursday, Sept. 1, and the Mountaineers’ match against Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 2. Only $1 tickets will be available on these days.
For the second straight year, the Mountaineers will meet with fans and sign autographs following four Sunday matches: St. Francis (Pa.) on Aug. 28, Ohio State on Sept. 4, Georgetown on Sept. 18 and Oklahoma on Oct. 2.
Camper Reunion Day is set for this Sunday’s match against the Red Flash, with free admission for those who wear their 2016 camp t-shirt. Free admission also we be awarded to all who bring a completed Musket coloring sheet to the DDSS gate. The coloring sheet is available HERE.
The newly formed Mountaineer Kids Club will hold a celebration prior to WVU’s kick against Ohio State on Sept. 4. Fans can still sign-up for the Mountaineer Kids Club HERE.
The Mountaineers will celebrate 2016 Olympic Bronze medalists Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence with an Olympic Night celebration on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. Youth Soccer Day will follow two days later, and all fans who wear a youth soccer jersey will earn free admittance to the team’s 1 p.m. match against Georgetown on Sept. 18. A free postgame clinic will follow the match.
WVU opens the defense of its four straight Big 12 titles against Baylor on Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m., and fans will have an opportunity to take their picture with the team’s 2015 Big 12 regular-season trophy prior to kickoff. It’s also High School Night, and all high school teams will receive free admission when they complete the high school form found HERE.
The Mountaineers’ annual Pink Match for breast cancer awareness is set for WVU’s contest against OU on Oct. 2, at 3 p.m. All fans are encouraged to wear pink that day, and the team will present a check to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at halftime. It’s also Alumni Weekend, and many former Mountaineers will be in attendance to celebrate the program’s 21 years of success.
Soctoberfest is back again this season and will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 14, when the Mountaineers face Texas Tech, the reigning Big 12 Conference tournament champion, at 6 p.m. Specialty German food and beverage options will be available at the concession stands. Additionally, it’s Good Student Night, and all youth fans who present an assignment with an ‘A’ grade or a star on it will receive free admission.
The Mountaineers close their home regular-season slate against Oklahoma State on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. It’s Senior Night, and WVU will celebrate the careers of Buchanan, Lawrence, Carly Black and Ashley Woolpert prior to kickoff. Additionally, the first 125 fans will receive a free Coke Bucket Hat. Finally, all fans are encouraged to celebrate Halloween with the Mountaineers that evening. Youths under the age of 13 in costume will receive free admission, and a costume contest will be held at halftime.
Tickets for all regular-season home matches are now on sale at WVUGAME.com. The WVU Soccer Scarf ticket package, which includes 10 tickets to be used at any women’s or men’s regular-season soccer match and an exclusive 2016 WVU soccer scarf, also is available for purchase at WVUGAME.com. Packages are just $30 and are available while supplies last.
Fans also can now purchase tickets online in advance for any home match by visiting WVUGAME.com and selecting the Print-At-Home or Mobile Delivery options.
