MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown announced today that midfielder Alli Magaletta will transfer from Missouri and join the Mountaineers for the 2016 season.
A rising junior from Chesterfield, Missouri, Magaletta will have two years of eligibility remaining at WVU.
“We are so excited to welcome Alli to the West Virginia family,” Izzo-Brown said. “From her All-America days in high school to her collegiate days competing in the Southeastern Conference, Alli brings a lot of success with her to Morgantown.”
Magaletta saw time in 41 games at Mizzou and earned five career starts. She played in all 19 matches as a sophomore and finished with four points on two goals, including the game-winning score in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over No. 9 Auburn on Sept. 11. She also tallied an insurance goal in the team’s 2-0 victory against Georgia on Oct. 11.
In 2014, Magaletta tallied a career-best seven points (3 G, 1 A). She played a season-high 55 minutes and scored the Tigers’ lone goal in a 3-1 loss at No. 7 Florida on Sept. 28. She also recorded a goal in the 87th minute in the team’s 2-1 defeat to No. 17 South Carolina at the SEC Soccer Tournament on Nov. 5, in Orange Beach, Alabama. Magaletta’s lone career assist came in Mizzou’s 3-3 double-overtime draw at Mississippi on Oct. 24.
A 2014 NSCAA All-America with St. Louis Scott Gallagher Soccer Club, she helped the team capture three Missouri State Cup titles. Also the 2014 Post-Dispatch All-Metro Girls Soccer Player of the Year at St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis, Magaletta earned two (2013-14) Missouri Class 3 All-State First Team awards and one (2012) Missouri Class 2 All-State Second Team honor. She also was a repeat all-conference first-team honoree in 2012 and 2013.
The daughter of Ed and Kim Magaletta, the SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree will major in exercise physiology.
