WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. - West Virginia University tight end Jon Lewis, a redshirt junior from Morgantown, W.Va., is the winner of the 2016 Tom Nickolich Memorial Award, as presented by the Blue and Gold News.
At the conclusion of spring drills each year, the Blue and Gold News awards the Tom Nickolich Memorial Award to a walk-on team member who has distinguished himself through his attitude and work ethic. The award is presented in memory of Tom Nickolich, a former WVU player (1979-82) who died of cancer in 1983.
Lewis, a University High graduate, received the award from WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen before today’s Gold-Blue Spring Game. He has been a three-year member of the football team and played in 14 games during his first two seasons on the field. He has added depth on the defensive line the past two years and was moved to tight end this spring. He is a sociology and anthropology major.
