Men’s Soccer Spring Slate Unveiled

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Featuring three home matches, the West Virginia University men’s soccer spring schedule has been announced.
The Mountaineers will play a total of five spring contests. At home, WVU welcomes Charleston and Bucknell to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, along with the annual alumni game.
“Our players are very excited to get started with our spring competition,” WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. We have some very good games lined up to test our players, and we anticipate that our annual alumni match will be the most competitive one to date.”
The spring slate begins on April 2 with a 7 p.m. ET match at Pitt. WVU continues on the road the following Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at VCU on April 9.
The home schedule begins on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m. ET against Charleston. The Mountaineers then welcome Bucknell to Morgantown on Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m. The spring concludes with the annual alumni match on Friday, April 22 at 7 p.m.
All home matches will be played at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium and admission will be free for all fans.
Throughout the spring season, the Mountaineers will wear black armbands in honor of former Mountaineer Abel “Shadow” Sebele, who passed away in January. Sebele was a midfielder for the Mountaineers from 2009-12.
Before beginning the spring competition slate, the Mountaineers will take one last look back at the 2015 season at the team’s annual senior banquet on Friday, April 1.
Seniors Haydon Bennett, Ivo Cabral, Ryan Cain, Francio Henry, Zak Leedom, Griffin Libhart and Jamie Merriam will be honored at the banquet in recognition of their outstanding careers as Mountaineers.
Additionally, the Abel “Shadow” Sebele Players’ Player of the Year Award will be handed out. Voted on annually by members of the WVU men’s soccer team, the award has been renamed in Sebele’s honor.
