Four Sign with Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown announced the addition of four student-athletes for the 2016 season.
The signees are Amanda Burns (Clarence, New York), Rylee Foster (Cambridge, Ontario), Jade Gentile (Baldwinsville, New York) and Brooke Myers (Middletown, Pennsylvania).
“I’m very excited about this class – each athlete brings tremendous success and playing experience with her to WVU,” Izzo-Brown said. “They each want to help this program immediately and continue to bring championships to Morgantown, as well as push us to new heights.
“There are some great soccer players in this group, and I believe they’re going to fill a few holes right away. The staff and team are very excited to bring them into the WVU Women’s Soccer Family!”
Amanda Burns, 5-0, Midfielder, Clarence, N.Y.
Six-year member of Western NY Flash Academy (formerly known as Buffalo Soccer Academy) … 2014 NYS West ODP State Team and member of the 2014 Region 1 Camp … two-time New York State West champion … No. 44-ranked midfielder in New York … five-year varsity letterwinner at Clarence High .. 2015 team captain … led Clarence to back-to-back semifinal appearances in the New York State Girls AA Soccer Championship … three-time sectional champion and two-time regional champion … paced team in assists at Clarence and helped Red Devils post an 18-3 record in 2015 … member of the National Honor Society and Superintendent’s Advisory Group … daughter of Thomas and Jane Burns … has one brother and one sister … birthday is September 18.
Rylee Foster, 5-9, Goalkeeper, Cambridge, Ontario
Two-year member of the Canadian Women’s National U20 Team … played alongside current Mountaineer Bianca St. Georges and earned the Silver medal at the 2015 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship Honduras, qualifying for the 2016 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea … previously played alongside current Mountaineers Kadeisha Buchanan, Ashley Lawrence and Amandine Pierre-Louis at the 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Canada … also was a two-year member of the Canadian Women’s National U17 Team … competed at the 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica with St. Georges and Mountaineer Easther Mayi Kith … won Silver at the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Championship Jamaica … earned the Golden Glove Award and named to the Best XI Team following the Jamaica Championship … made Canadian youth program debut in 2013 at age 15 … has started 10 matches since debut and played 841 minutes, earning five clean sheets and allowing just four goals … has been recognized by the Cambridge mayor on several occasions and was previously a nominee for the Cambridge Athlete of the Year honor … also ran track for Glenview Park Secondary and was named the Junior Track Athlete of the Year … daughter of Dave and Kim Foster … has two sisters … birthday is August 13.

Three-year member of the Penn Legacy ’97 Black team, which ranked No. 2 in Pennsylvania in 2014 … attended the 2013 Players Development Academy (PDA) NJ (Premier) … four-year starting goalkeeper for Middletown Area High … team captain … named to the 2015 Mid-Penn Girls’ Soccer Conference Capital Division All-Star First Team and All-PennLive Girls’ Soccer All-Star Second Team … 2014 Mid-Penn Girls’ Soccer Conference Capital Division Second Team … 2014 Team MVP … 2013 Golden Eagle Award winner … 2012 Middletown Soccer Rookie of the Year … earned the President’s Award as an Academic All-Star … member of several clubs at Middletown Area, including: Student Council, Key Club, Mini-THON Committee, Link Crew and National Honor Society … daughter of Steve and Michelle Myers … has two brothers and one sister … birthday is September 11.
