In this week’s report, Mario Alford helped Cleveland to its first victory of the season, while Terence Garvin had a standout performance for Washington. Eight Mountaineers are postseason bound: KJ Dillon (Houston)*, Mark Glowinski (Seattle), Bruce Irvin (Oakland), Will Johnson (New York Giants)*, Karl Joseph (Oakland), Shaq Riddick (Pittsburgh)^, Dreamius Smith (Pittsburgh)^ and J.T. Thomas (New York Giants)*. There are four others still in the hunt, as the last week of the regular season takes places this weekend: Don Barclay (Green Bay), Garvin (Washington), Charles Sims (Tampa Bay) and Keith Tandy (Tampa Bay).

Next Game: Sunday, Jan. 1 – at Pittsburgh – 1 p.m. ET
Mario Alford returned three punts and two kickoffs in Cleveland’s 20-17 win over San Diego on Saturday. Alford averaged 28.0 yards per kick return and 6.3 yards per punt return as the Browns collected their first win of the season. Cleveland (1-14) concludes the season at AFC North Champion Pittsburgh (10-5) on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Tavon Austin carried the ball three times for 26 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 15 yards in Los Angeles’ 22-21 loss to San Francisco. He also returned five punts for 12 yards. Austin’s 30-yard rushing touchdown at the end of the first quarter gave the Rams a 14-7 edge. In 14 games this season, Austin caught a career-high 56 passes for 491 yards. Austin and Los Angeles (4-11) close out the season against Arizona (6-8-1) on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Don Barclay played nine snaps in Green Bay’s 38-25 win over Minnesota on Saturday. Green Bay (9-6) visits Detroit (9-6) for a NFC North division title battle on Sunday evening.

Will Clarke registered two tackles including a sack for a three-yard loss in Cincinnati’s 12-10 loss at Houston on Saturday. The three-year pro has a career-best 15 tackles and four sacks in 15 games played this season. Cincinnati (5-9-1) concludes the season at Baltimore (8-7) on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Rookie KJ Dillon was placed on injured reserve after suffering an injury against Indianapolis on Monday, Oct. 17. Although Dillion may have been sidelined, he and his teammates helped 14 needy children by picking out clothing and toys in a shopping spree.

Terence Garvin finished third on the team with five tackles in Washington’s 41-21 victory at Chicago on Saturday. Garvin has amassed 14 tackles in 15 games, just two shy of his career-high set during the 2014 season with Pittsburgh. If Washington (8-6-1) beats the New York Giants (10-5) on Sunday, Jan. 1, the Redskins will punch a ticket to the playoffs as long as the Green Bay-Detroit game does not end in a tie.

Mark Glowinski played 94 snaps in Seattle’s 34-31 loss to Arizona on Saturday. The Seahawks (9-5-1) visit San Francisco (2-13) on Sunday, Jan. 1, before potentially playing in a wild card game next weekend.

Najee Goode made a tackle in 19 special teams snaps, as Philadelphia knocked off the New York Giants, 24-19, on Thursday. The Eagles (6-9) conclude the season against No. 1 NFC playoff seed Dallas (13-2) on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Bruce Irvin made a tackle and hurried the quarterback three times in Oakland’s 33-25 win over Indianapolis. The Raiders (12-3), who hold the No. 2-seed in the AFC playoffs, visit Denver (8-7) on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Next Game: Injured Reserve
Will Johnson signed a free agent contract with the New York Giants in April. Johnson had played in 47 straight games in the regular season with the Steelers, which was the third-longest active streak among NFL fullbacks. However, he suffered an injury early in the preseason and was placed on the Giants injured reserve list. The Giants have clinched a berth to the playoffs and are currently projected as a No. 5-seed in the NFC.

Shaq Riddick was signed to Pittsburgh’s practice squad on Dec. 13. Riddick was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was released by Arizona on Sept. 27. Pittsburgh won the AFC North Crown with a win over Baltimore on Dec. 25.

Charles Sims carried the ball three times for 12 yards and caught four passes for 30 yards in Tampa Bay’s 31-24 loss at New Orleans. The Buccaneers (8-7) are still mathematically alive for a NFC playoff berth and play host to Carolina (6-9) on Sunday, Jan. 1.

Wendell Smallwood carried the ball three times for three yards and returned a kickoff for 27 yards before leaving the Dec. 11 game against Washington in the second quarter. Smallwood suffered a season-ending knee injury and was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 16.

Dreamius Smith was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad on Nov. 28. Smith signed an undrafted free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers last season. He was placed on injured reserve on August 30 and released two days later. Smith appeared in two games with the Chargers in 2015. Pittsburgh won the AFC North Crown with a win over Baltimore on Dec. 25.
