D'Onta Foreman (Texas), Travin Howard (TCU), Michael Dickson (Texas) and Justin Crawford (West Virginia) were recognized with Big 12 football weekly honors. Foreman (offense) was honored for the second consecutive week while Dickson (special teams) also picked up his second career award. Howard (defense) and Crawford (newcomer) earned recognition for the first time.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
D’Onta Foreman, Texas, RB, Jr, Texas City, Texas
- Foreman rushed 33 times for 341 yards and three touchdowns in Texas’ 45-37 victory at Texas Tech. The 33 rushes were a career high as were the three touchdowns.
- The 341 yards were also a career high and the third-most in a single game in school history. They were the most rushing yards by a player in a game in college football this season and the most at Texas in a game since 1998.
- Became the first UT player since Hodges Mitchell in 2000, and just the third ever, with back-to-back 200 yard games after rushing for 250 yards a week ago against Baylor.
- His 591 yards over the last two games rank second only to Ricky Williams’ NCAA record 668 yards (1998) in Texas history for rushing yards in consecutive games.
- Has surpassed 100 yards rushing in 10 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the nation and just shy of Earl Campbell’s school record of 11 set in 1977.
- Has rushed for 1,446 yards this season, the second-most in school history through eight games, and 13 touchdowns.
- Leads the nation averaging 180.8 yards per game.
?DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Travin Howard, TCU, LB, Jr, Longview, Texas
- In a 62-22 TCU win, Howard keyed the defense that limited Baylor to 133 yards rushing after it entered the game No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 4 nationally at 299.3 yards per game. Baylor was held to 5-of-20 on 3rd-down conversions.
- Led TCU with 12 tackles for his sixth straight game in double figures.
- Has a Big 12-leading 100 tackles on the season.
- First Horned Frog since Martin Patterson (2003-04) to have back-to-back seasons with at least 100 tackles.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Michael Dickson, Texas, P, So, Sydney, Australia
- Dickson punted five times for 255 yards and a 51.0 average in Texas’ win at Texas Tech.
- His 51.0 average was the eighth-best in a single-game in school history as he now owns three of the top eight single game averages in the UT record book.
- Had two punts of more than 60 yards and two punts downed inside the TTU 10-yard line while allowing just one return.
- Booted a long punt of 63 yards for the second straight week.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Justin Crawford, West Virginia, RB, Jr, Columbus, Ga.
- Crawford rushed for a season-high 129 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in West Virginia’s 48-21 win over Kansas.
- Averaged 9.9 yards per carry with long runs of 37, 25 and 27 yards.
- It was his third 100-yard rushing game of the season.
