MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Mississippi Valley State, a 94-63 loser at Northwestern on Friday night, will be in Morgantown tonight to face 19th-ranked West Virginia at the WVU Coliseum.
The Delta Devils (0-1) trailed by 18 at halftime to the Wildcats and shot just 37.3 percent from the floor for the game, including 5 of 14 from three.
Marcus Romain, a 6-foot-2-inch, 174-pound senior guard from Brooklyn, New York, led Mississippi Valley State with 16 points.
Amos Given, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior small forward from Shreveport, Louisiana, contributed 11 points coming off the bench.
Meanwhile, West Virginia (1-0) got 13 points from senior forward Nathan Adrian, 11 from freshman forward Sagaba Konate and 10 from junior guard Jevon Carter during Friday night’s 87-59 victory over Mount St. Mary’s.
Veteran coach Bob Huggins substituted liberally throughout the game with 11 different players reaching the scoring column and eight scoring at least seven points.
The Mountaineers shot 47.8 percent from the floor, forced 21 turnovers and had a 13-rebound advantage on the glass.
