MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 1-ranked and top-seeded West Virginia University women’s soccer team will play host to second- and third-round games in the 2016 NCAA Tournament on Nov. 18 and 20, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Mountaineers (20-1-1, 8-0) will face Ohio State (11-6-3, 4-4-3 Big Ten) in the second of two games Friday night, with first kick set for 6 p.m. No. 14-ranked UCLA (14-5-1, 7-3-1 Pac-12) and Nebraska (11-5-5, 5-3-3 Big Ten) will kick at 3 p.m. in the first contest.
The winners of Friday’s matches will meet Sunday in the tournament’s third round at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets for Friday’s game go on sale tomorrow, Nov. 14, at 9 a.m., at WVUGAME.com. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and youths under the age of 13, and $2 for groups of 10 or more. Group tickets will only be available in advance and not at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium gate on game day. WVU students are admitted free with a valid WVU Student I.D. One ticket provides admission for both games Friday.
Friday is the second meeting of the season between the Mountaineers and the Buckeyes. WVU earned a 2-1 win on Sept. 4, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
WVU advances to the tournament’s second round for the second straight season and the 11th time in program history. This weekend marks the second time in as many years the Mountaineers will play host to second-and third-round games since the NCAA adopted the current tournament format in 2011.
The Mountaineers opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Northern Kentucky on Nov. 12, in Morgantown. It was the team’s 20th win of the year, a program single-season record. The Buckeyes defeated Dayton, 3-2, yesterday, in Columbus, Ohio.
