MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Following Saturday’s 48-17 victory over Texas Tech, West Virginia jumped eight spots to No. 12 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll and five spots to No. 13 in this week’s Coaches’ Poll, released earlier this afternoon.
It is the highest ranking for the Mountaineers in the AP poll since October 7, 2012 when they were ranked No. 5 before facing Texas Tech in Lubbock.
It is the third straight week West Virginia has appeared in the national polls this year following its strong 5-0 start with victories over Missouri, Youngstown State, BYU, Kansas State and Texas Tech.
This week represents the 30th week a Dana Holgorsen-coached Mountaineer team has been nationally ranked.
WVU faces 4-2 TCU this Saturday at Milan Puskar Stadium in a 3:30 p.m. game that will be televised nationally on ABC.
The game has already been announced a sellout - West Virginia’s third so far this season.
Tickets still remain for West Virginia’s three final home dates against Kansas (November 5), Oklahoma (November 19) and Baylor (December 3) and can be purchased by calling the Mountaineer Ticket Office toll-free at 1-800-WVU GAME or by logging on to WVUGAME.com.
