A Note from Coach Izzo-Brown

Greetings Fellow Mountaineers!
Your West Virginia University women’s soccer team made history this week, as we took the top spot in the NSCAA Coaches Poll for the first time ever! The Mountaineers sit atop all three major national polls and are the unanimous No. 1 team.
It’s now time to back that ranking up against a tough Big 12 Conference opponent, as we kick against Texas Tech tonight at 6 p.m. at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Tonight is BIG! The match will be broadcast to a national television audience on ESPNU, and I challenge Mountaineer Nation to show the country just how proud and supportive you are of this special team.
Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium has a reputation of being a tough venue for opponents. We’re unbeaten in our last 32 conference matches in Morgantown, and tonight, that streak, as well as our current five-match win streak, is on the line against the Red Raiders.
There are so many reasons to come out to the stadium tonight! The first 175 fans will receive a free “Almost Heaven” long sleeve t-shirt. It’s also “Soctoberfest,” and specialty German food and beverage options will be available at the concession stands. Additionally, it’s “Good Student Night,” and youths 13 years and younger who bring an assignment or test with an ‘A’ on it will receive free admission.
There’s no doubt that our Mountaineer Maniacs have added to the exciting game-day atmosphere this season, and we have a treat for you, too, as the first 75 Maniacs through the gate will receive a free scarf.
You’ve proven that you are the best fans in the nation this season. More than 12,000 of you have already seen this team play in Morgantown this year, and we rank No. 8 nationally with a 1,560 average attendance. My challenge to you tonight is to help us set another attendance top-10 mark! You’ve done it four times already this season…let’s do it again!
Come early, stay late and cheer loudly for your No. 1-ranked Mountaineers tonight! Remember – kick vs. Texas Tech is at 6 p.m.
See you tonight! And, as always – Let’s Go Mountaineers!
