MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team hosts its first ranked opponent of the season on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m., when it welcomes No. 18/RV Georgetown to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Mountaineers (2-4-0) look to extend their home winning streak to three matches as they face their second ranked opponent of the year. WVU takes on the Hoyas (2-2-2) for the second time since 2011, the last matchup between the two teams as Big East Conference foes.
“Georgetown is one of the best teams in the country, they’re a lot of peoples’ favorites to go to the national championship this year,” WVU coach Marlon LeBlanc said. “We’ll have our work cut out for us with a very, very good team, but at the end of the day, we determine our success based on our performance.
“We’ve gotten into a better place in terms of our consistencies and our attacks, we’re creating a lot more opportunities and we are putting ourselves in situations to score more goals. We’re doing a better job defensively.”
Sunday is a “Dollar Day,” and all tickets and select concession items are available for $1 each. Tickets can be purchased in advance at WVUGAME.com or 1-800-WVU GAME. Admission is free for WVU students with a valid ID.
