MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – In addition to the action on the field, the West Virginia University men’s soccer team’s 10-match home schedule is filled with plenty of exciting promotions for the 2015 season.
“Dollar Days,” fireworks and a free postgame clinic with the team highlight this year’s promotion schedule.
“Gamedays at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium are always exciting, and Mountaineer fans play an important part in our success at home,” coach Marlon LeBlanc said. “With a challenging schedule once again this season, we’re looking forward to feeding off of the home crowd.”
Three “Dollar Days” will take place this season, with the first scheduled for the opening weekend, Sunday, Aug. 30 at Noon vs. San Francisco. All tickets and select concessions can be purchased for $1 each on “Dollar Days.” The promotion also will be held on Sunday, Sept. 20 vs. Georgetown, set for 4 p.m., and on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. vs. Penn State.
New this season is “BOGO Coke & Popcorn,” where fans can buy one popcorn or Coke product and receive a second one free when the Mountaineers take on Akron on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. Additionally, the first 500 fans will receive a free megaphone, and the first 75 Mountaineer Maniacs will get a Maniac Hoodie.
On Aug. 30, the team hosts a postgame clinic from 2-3 p.m. Following the men’s game and before the women’s contest, kids 13 and under who attend the men’s match at Noon are invited to the free clinic.
Faculty/Staff Night is slated for Friday, Sept. 11 as the Mountaineers take on James Madison. Faculty and staff will receive a coupon in their e-mail via E-News for free admission. The first 250 Maniacs to enter Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium will receive a pair of sunglasses.
The matchup vs. Georgetown on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. is Youth Soccer Day. Youth soccer teams will have the opportunity to participate in a parade and can gain free admission by completing a musket coloring sheet, which will be available on WVUsports.com the week of the game.
The match vs. Penn State on Tuesday, Oct. 13 will feature fireworks.
The regular season home schedule concludes on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. as the Mountaineers take on Northern Illinois on Senior Night. The first 150 Maniacs in attendance to honor the 2015 senior class will receive a free soccer scarf.
At every home match in 2015, fans can collect a poster or schedule cards, while supplies last. Additionally, WVU students will receive free admission to each game with a valid student ID.
Tickets for all 10 regular-season home matches are now on sale. New in 2015 is the WVU Soccer Scarf ticket package, where fans can purchase 10 tickets for any men’s or women’s soccer match for $30 and receive a newly designed WVU soccer scarf. More information on the scarf ticket package can be found here, while fans can purchase tickets online in advance for any home match by visiting WVUGAME.com.
The Mountaineers return 20 letterwinners, including nine starters, from last year’s squad that went 11-7-1. WVU closed the 2014 campaign on a 7-2 run in LeBlanc’s ninth season at the helm.
