December 31, 2015 06:03 PM | Football
Morgantown, W.Va. – As part of West Virginia University Athletics' partnership with IMG College, West Virginia Illustrated will produce two LIVE pregame television specials to kickoff the New Year.
Mountaineer GameDay will follow the Mountaineers (7-5), as they prepare to take on Arizona State (6-6) in the 27th Annual Motel 6 Cactus Bowl from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mountaineer GameDay will air live on Friday, January 1, 2016, at 5:30 p.m., as the final practices and game preparation wrap up for both squads. The Mountaineer GameDay crew also will set the table during a primetime special on Saturday, January 2 at 8 p.m., taking you right up to kickoff of the 27th Motel 6 Cactus Bowl.
Scott Grayson and Amanda Mazey will anchor both Mountaineer GameDay specials from our Clarksburg GameDay studios, with Geoff Coyle and Matt Hauswirth on the ground in the Phoenix area covering everything WVU. Both reporters will bring the viewer closer to the Cactus Bowl game, and Mountaineer football, with live reports prior to kickoff. Watch for the last word from Mountaineer coach Dana Holgorsen, plus the always-popular “Taste of the Town” segment featuring unique dining options from around the Phoenix area.
The Mountaineer GameDay specials also will feature a visit with WVU President E. Gordon Gee and Athletic Director, Shane Lyons. The “Wolfman”, Dale Wolfley, joins the bowl special as only the Wolfman can. Plus, Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG radio play-by-play person, Tony Caridi, pays a visit to the GameDay crew.
Mountaineer Gameday also will feature LIVE watch parties from across the Mountain State, including Scott Nolte from TJ’s Sports Garden in Wheeling; Tom Rader from the Cold Spot in Charleston; Kathyrn Ghion will bring us coverage from Buffalo Wild Wings in Bridgeport; and, Brandon Vansickel introduces us to a WVU Super Fan from the Beckley area.
If you can’t make it to the game festivities, we will bring coverage to you!
