MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Kailey Utley of the West Virginia University women’s soccer team was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America Third Team today.
The honor is the first career award for the St. Louis, Missouri, native, and the first for the women’s soccer program since 2013. In total, 10 different student-athletes have earned 11 NSCAA Scholar All-America honors under 20-year coach Nikki Izzo-Brown.

The team’s top scorer, Utley, a forward, posted a WVU and career-best 30 points (12 G, 6 A) this season. She tallied her first career three-goal performance in the team’s 5-2 victory over Loyola Marymount in the NCAA Tournament Third Round on Nov. 22. Utley finished the year ranked No. 4 nationally in game-winning goals (7). A two-time All-Big 12 honoree, she finished ranked No. 2 in the conference in goals and points, and No. 4 in assists.
The NSCAA Women’s Scholar All-East Region Team also was announced today. Utley was named to the second team, while classmate Amanda Hill was named to the third team.
