MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team maintained its No. 2 ranking in today’s TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25 Poll.
This week marks the Mountaineers’ (15-1-1, 6-0-1) fourth straight at No. 2.
Virginia (15-1-1, 9-1 ACC) sits at No. 1 for the second straight week. Stanford (16-2, 10-0 Pac-12) and Florida State (13-2-3, 6-1-3 ACC) continue to rank No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Penn State (14-3-2, 8-2-1 Big Ten) is up one spot to No. 5.
Florida (14-3-1, 8-2-1 SEC) and North Carolina (14-3-1, 7-3 ACC) rank No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, and are followed by Connecticut (16-2, 8-1 AAC), Virginia Tech (14-3-2, 6-3-1 ACC) and BYU (14-2-2, 6-1-1 WCC).
WVU is the only Big 12 team ranked this week; Texas Tech is receiving votes.
The seventh NCAA RPI also was released today, and the Mountaineers are up one spot to a season-high No. 6. WVU is the best-positioned Big 12 team, with Texas Tech (10-3-5, 3-2-3) following at No. 33 and Oklahoma at No. 42 (10-6-3, 3-2-3).
FSU continues to rank No. 1, with Penn State following at No. 2, Rutgers (15-2-2, 7-2-2 Big Ten) at No. 3, Stanford at No. 4 and Virginia at No. 5.
UConn follows WVU at No. 7. Florida sits at No. 8, and Clemson (13-3-1, 7-3 ACC) and Notre Dame (13-4-1, 6-4 ACC) rank No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
The four-time reigning Big 12 Conference regular-season champions, the top-seeded Mountaineers open the Big 12 Soccer Championship against No. 8-seed Oklahoma State on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 12:30 p.m. ET, at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri.
