Mountaineers Enter Tournament at No. 4

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team is ranked No. 4 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) final regular-season poll.
The position is the Mountaineers’ highest-ever in the association’s last regular-season poll. WVU, ranked No. 2 the last two weeks, has been in the top 10 every week but the first two this season.
Virginia (16-1-2, 9-1 ACC) earned 24 of the 31 first-place votes and continues to rank No. 1. Florida State (14-2-4, 6-1-3), the defending national champion, moved up two spots to No. 2, while Stanford (16-2-1, 10-0-1 Pac-12) holds steady at No. 3. Florida (17-3-1, 8-2-1 SEC) maintains its position at No. 5.
Penn State (16-3-2, 8-2-1 Big Ten) is up three spots to No. 6 followed by: Clemson (13-4-1, 7-3 ACC) at No. 7, North Carolina (14-4-1, 7-3 ACC) at No. 8, Rutgers (16-3-2, 7-2-2 Big Ten) at No. 9 and Notre Dame (13-4-1, 6-4 ACC) at No. 10.
The Mountaineers are one of two Big 12 teams ranked this week. Texas Tech (13-3-5, 2-2-3) is up three spots to No. 15.
WVU earned a program-high No. 2 overall seed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament and will play host to Duquesne in the first round on Friday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Tickets for Friday’s game are on sale now at WVUGAME.com. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and youth, and $2 for groups of 10 or more. WVU students will be admitted for free with a valid WVU student I.D.
With the men’s basketball team playing at 7 p.m. Friday night, parking will be extremely limited in the parking lots around the WVU Coliseum Complex. Fans who arrive to park in the Natatorium/Band lot before 6 p.m. can park free of charge. Fans who arrive after 6 p.m. to park in the Natatorium/Band lot will be charged $10 for parking to attend either the soccer match or the basketball game.
