Mountaineers Steady at No. 3

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team holds steady at No. 3 in today’s TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 25 Poll.
This marks the second straight week the Mountaineers (11-1, 2-0) sit at No. 3, the program’s highest ranking in any poll.
North Carolina (11-0-1, 4-0 ACC) and Florida State (10-1-1, 3-0-1 ACC) continue to rank No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, and BYU (10-1-1, 2-0) and Virginia Tech (11-1-1, 3-1 ACC) continue to follow WVU at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
No. 6 Virginia (8-1-1, 2-1 ACC), No. 7 Penn State (8-2-2, 3-1-1 Big Ten), No. 8 Stanford (9-2, 3-0 Pac-12) and No. 9 Clemson (9-1-1, 3-1 ACC) all moved up one spot this week. Auburn (11-1, 4-1 SEC) is up two spots to No. 10.
Texas Tech (7-1-4, 0-0-2) is the only other Big 12 Conference team ranked and sits at No. 16.
The third NCAA Women’s Soccer RPI also was released today, and WVU is up one spot to No. 13. WVU is the highest-positioned Big 12 team, with TTU following at No. 32 and Oklahoma (8-4-1, 1-0-1) at No. 43.
PSU is the No. 1 team, with FSU following at No. 2, Stanford at No. 3, and Clemson and Auburn at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Rutgers (9-2-1) ranks No. 6 and is followed by BYU, VT, USF (10-2-1) and UNC.
The Mountaineers return to the road this weekend for a pair of Big 12 Conference matches. WVU will kick at OU on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. ET, before traveling to Lubbock, Texas, for a showdown against the Red Raiders on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. ET.
