Noah Smith joined the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in 2016 and has been serving his current role as Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing since August 2023.
He leads the WVU Athletics Marketing office in day-to-day operations and serves as the direct sports marketing contact for football and men's basketball and is the department’s liaison to the Mountaineer Maniacs, among other responsibilities. In his current role as Assistant Athletics Director, Smith oversees WVU’s paid and trade advertising efforts for the athletic programs and works closely with Learfield in the implementation of sponsorship elements and spearheads the budget process for the Marketing office.
During his tenure at WVU, Smith helped to create and program the Almost Heaven Village, Gold-Blue Spring Festival, and Ballin' at Woodburn, basketball preseason event.
Smith's work was recognized in 2025 by The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) as the Gold winner in the category of "Game Day Promotion" for "Coal Rush - WVU Football" initiative. Additionally, in 2025, his work helped the Mountaineers secure a Bronze NACMA award for its Year-Over-Year Revenue Increase as well as a Bronze Award in the Lead Generation Campaign category — 2024 Spring Football Lead Gen Campaign.
Smith previously served as Director of Athletics Marketing from 2022-23 and Assistant Director of Athletics Marketing from 2018-22. Prior to that, he was a student assistant in the WVU Athletics Marketing office from 2016-18.
The Parkersburg, West Virginia, native and Parkersburg South High alumnus graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management from WVU in 2018. He also earned his master’s degree from West Virginia in 2021.
Smith resides in Morgantown with his wife, Alexis, and son, Parker.
