Emily Harman enters her fourth season as assistant coach with the West Virginia University women’s tennis program. The Petersburg, West Virginia, native brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience from her playing days at the collegiate and professional level.
 
The 2018 campaign saw the Mountaineers mark a program milestone, winning its first Big 12 conference match in program history with a 4-1 win over Iowa State. With Harman’s help, the squad also recorded its second straight win over in-state rival Marshall.  
 
In 2017, she aided the Mountaineers to their first victory over Marshall for the first time in four seasons. Harman also traveled with Habiba Shaker and Christina Jordan as they competed at the ITA All-American Championships for the first time under head coach Miha Lisac.  
 
In only her first season as assistant coach at WVU, she helped guide the Mountaineers to a No. 75 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national ranking for what is believed to be the first time in program history.
 
Prior to her time at West Virginia, Harman played three years on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. Within that time frame, Harman obtained a career-high WTA doubles world ranking of No. 232.
 
Prior to her professional career, Harman was a standout tennis player at the No. 1 singles and doubles slots at Syracuse. A two-time team captain, Harman entered the century club and compiled a career record of 125-60 over the course of her collegiate career. A three-time All-Big East selection, Harman also assisted the Orange to a No. 39 ITA national ranking under former coach Luke Jensen during her senior campaign. 
 
Throughout her tenure at Syracuse, Harman also excelled in the classroom. A Big East Female Scholar-Athlete honoree, Harman was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American. She graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science and a minor in biology.
