Calvin Song spent one season as the assistant coach for the West Virginia tennis team.
Song was part of a historic season for the WVU tennis program as the Mountaineers finished the 2023-24 season 15-13 overall. West Virginia also competed in the UTR Sports 2024 NIT Championship, marking the first postseason tournament appearance in program history.
Song was an integral part of player development and recruitment for the WVU program. He actively participated in practice, working with players individually, and setting up drills for the team.
Prior to West Virginia
Song was an assistant coach at Fresno State, joining the Bulldogs in February 2021. He was part of the team that finished 20-4 during the 2021-22 season, and a program that went a combined 21-9 in conference play in three seasons.
During his time at Fresno State, the Bulldogs won the 2022 Mountain West Conference regular-season championship for the first time in school history. The Bulldogs had three players named Mountain West Player of the Year while Song was on the coaching staff.
Fresno State also had a doubles team that was ranked No. 45 in the country and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2023. Song assisted in assembling a mid-major recruiting class that was ranked No. 14 by Tennis Recruiting Network in 2022.
