Cole Stembridge came to West Virginia University in the fall of 2018 and serves as the primary athletic trainer for the baseball team.
Stembridge joins the Mountaineers after two years as a graduate athletic training student at Texas A&M. At Texas A&M, Stembridge worked with the football, softball and volleyball teams, in addition to a semester at James Earl Rudder High. His responsibilities included implementing rehabilitation protocols for a variety of injuries, daily prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and data collection to monitor practice intensities. Additionally, Stembridge is familiar with concussion baseline testing via C3 Logix Concussion management system.
During the summer of 2018, Stembridge served as the assistant athletic trainer for the Oakland Athletics’ Dominican Summer League team, where he ensured proper execution of daily maintenance exercises for injury prevention, administered concussion baseline testing utilizing ImPACT protocols and assisted the performance staff with supervision of dynamic warm-ups, performance enhancement, and corrective exercise programs. Stembridge spent the summer of 2017 with the Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate Summer League. His role included providing daily medical coverage and evaluating, creating and implementing treatment plans and injury prevention programs.
As an undergraduate at the University of Texas at Tyler, Stembridge worked with the baseball, tennis and track & field programs. He collected research data investigating the effects of low-level laser therapy on diabetic neuropathies, was responsible for organizing medical documents and recording daily treatments and assisted with the development and execution of treatment plans
A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Stembridge graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in May, 2016, with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. He earned a master of science in athletic training from Texas A&M in May, 2018.
Stembridge is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), is NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist Certified (PES), is a NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
