Trio Recognized on Big 12 Preseason Team, WVU Picked Third in Preseason Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the West Virginia University women's soccer team have been named to the 2026 Preseason All-Big 12 Soccer Team, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Bailey Herfurth, senior midfielder Anna Hauer and senior defender Nyema Ingleton were recognized on the league's annual preseason team. The trio received their first career preseason accolades, while Hauer and Ingleton were named to the All-Big 12 Second Team in 2025.
Additionally, the Mountaineers were picked to finish in a tie for third in this year's preseason Big 12 poll, garnering 182 points and one first-place vote from the league's 16 head coaches. TCU topped the poll with 13 first-place votes and 222 points. Colorado was second (187 points), while Kansas came in a tie for third along with the Mountaineers. Texas Tech rounded out the top five with 180 points.
Herfurth appeared in 20 games and started 18 between the posts for WVU in 2025. After earning her first start of the year in the fourth game of the season, she did not concede a goal until her sixth start of the year. She was the last goalie in the nation with 50% of its team's minutes and zero goals conceded, ranking No. 1 nationally in goals against average at the midway point of the season. She also tallied 13 wins and recorded 46 saves, playing a career-best 1,693 minutes on the year. Herfurth also posted nine solo shutouts last season.
After joining the team from Memphis in 2025, Hauer notched four goals, five assists and 13 points in her first season with the Mountaineers. Hailing from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she was a force in Big 12 play last season, tallying three goals, as well as a pair of game winners, in league matches. Starting all 21 games in the midfield, Hauer played 1,491 minutes to rank seventh on the team as one of 10 players to tally over 1,000 minutes in 2025.
An anchor for the WVU back line, Ingleton led the team in 2025 with 1,797 minutes played, including 13 matches where she played 90 or more minutes. A native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, she helped the Mountaineer defense tally 11 shutouts last year, including five in Big 12 play and one in the NCAA Tournament. Ingleton also started all 21 matches for the Mountaineers last season.
The Preseason Poll and Team were selected by the league's 16 head coaches, and they were not allowed to vote for their own team or players.
