Griffin Lake has continued his summer of dominance, this time claiming both the men's 50m three position open and junior titles at the USA Shooting Rifle National Championship being held in Talladega, Alabama.
Earlier this summer Lake claimed both air and smallbore titles at the USA Shooting Junior Olympics and claimed a third-place finish and two more finals appearances at the ISSF World Cup.
Lake rolled through his opening two qualifying relays with the top mark in the field, scoring 1176 (586-590). His second relay mark of 590 was the best relay score of the event. The Emmaus, Pennsylvania, native scored 458.2 in the open final and 455.3 in the junior final.
On the women's side,
Camryn Camp qualified for both the open and junior finals. Camp finished in seventh place in the open division and junior division. She hit marks of 1158 (584-574) during qualifying.
Ashlyn Blake also qualified for the junior final after a qualifying score of 1153 (580-573). She took second place in the final, just 0.1 off of first place with a 448.9 mark.
Maximus Duncan also competed at the event where he finished in 13
th place in the open division with an 1134 (566-568). Incoming freshman Jack Ogoreuc finished in 11
th place in the open division with a score of 1140 (572-568) to qualify for the junior final where he finished in seventh place. He hit the second-best mark in the U18 division.
The Mountaineers continue the action with the first air rifle relay taking place tomorrow at the USA Shooting Nationals in Alabama.
