MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior guard
JJ Quinerly of the West Virginia University women's basketball team has earned Honorable Mention status on this year's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-America Team, the organization announced.
The recognition marks Quinerly's second All-America honor this season. The Norfolk, Virginia, native also earned Honorable Mention status on this year's Associated Press All-America team. Quinerly earns both of the honors for the second straight season.
Quinerly is the 34th All-America selection in WVU program history and is the 14th player from the Mountaineer women's basketball history to be named to an All-America team.
In 33 contests this season, Quinerly led West Virginia in scoring 21 times and averaged a career-best 20.4 points per contest, the best mark on the team. The senior added 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 3.2 assists throughout the season. Her 652 points this season are the seventh most all-time.
Quinerly was also named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season while picking up All-Big 12 First Team and Defensive Team honors for the third time in her career. She was also a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.
She finishes her career as the only Mountaineer to score 2,016 points and add 410 rebounds, 341 assists, and 328 steals. Quinerly is just the fourth Mountaineer to score over 2,000 points in a career to rank third on the all-time list and third on the all-time steals list.
