Cooke Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior guard Gia Cooke of the West Virginia University women's soccer team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, Presented by University Apartments.
Cooke was named to the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship All-Tournament team for her performance in two games.
The Upper Marlboro, Maryland native, scored 24 points in the Mountaineers 83-63 win over McNeese State. She finished the game 6 of 9 from the floor and 10 of 13 from the foul line. She closed out the week with another 24-point performance against Ohio State. She finished 8 of 18 from the floor and added a 12 of 17 mark from the charity stripe.
The effort marked Cooke's second straight game with 20+ points and the sixth straight in double figures.
