MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University's eighth annual Day of Giving campaign has officially begun.
This 24-hour online fundraising event gives all participants an opportunity to donate money to the areas of the university that they deem the most important. The funds raised impact every aspect of the university, including student-athletes.

Hourly challenges will provide opportunities to receive additional funds throughout the day based on participation, dollar amount raised, social media engagement and more. Participants also will be able to stay updated on challenge winners, live leaderboards and the donor wall.
This year's Day of Giving also features two key athletics-focused challenges. The top three teams that receive the most gifts today will earn extra funding for their sport enhancement funds, with first place earning $5,000, second place earning $3,000 and third place earning $2,000. Additionally, for every sport that raises at least $1,000 for its sport enhancement fund, a generous Mountaineer Athletic Club donor will unlock an additional $1,000.
Challenges such as the WVU Gear Photo Challenge will run all day. Include #WVUDayofGiving on a post you share of yourself and/or your kids wearing WVU gear, and the WVU Foundation will select the most creative to earn additional funding for their unit of choice.
Another all-day challenge is the "Country Roads Challenge." Post a video of yourself singing or performing "Country Roads" to help your preferred unit win extra funding.
WVU Day of Giving is a University-wide event, including the main campus in Morgantown, WVU Health Sciences, WVU Medicine and the divisional campuses, including Potomac State College in Keyser and WVU Institute of Technology in Beckley.
All gifts are made through the WVU Foundation, the nonprofit organization that receives and administers private donations on behalf of the University.
Day of Giving has been a massive success for West Virginia University over its first seven years, and we look to continue to give back to our university-wide departments and impact the lives of students and athletes for the foreseeable future.
