MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior defender
Annika Leslie of the West Virginia University women's soccer team has signed a professional contract with Halifax Tides in Nova Scotia, the club announced over the weekend.
Leslie becomes the 43rd professional Mountaineer in program history, after teammate
Dilary Heredia-Beltran signed a professional contract with Tigres Femenil in Mexico in December.
A native of Halifax, Leslie was a four-year starter for West Virginia, playing in 70 career matches and starting 46 of those. As a junior and senior, Leslie started every match as a key member of WVU's back line, helping the defense notch 17 shutouts in her time on the pitch in those two seasons.
She finished her career with two goals and four assists for eight career points. Of note, both of her goals in her career were Olimpico goals, which she scored directly from a corner kick. Leslie also finished with 4,484 minutes played for the Mountaineers.
Leslie was honored on the 2024 All-Big 12 First Team, while she also received United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Team at the end of last season. Academically, she is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team member and a three-time CSC Academic All-District team honoree.
She will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology.
