
Berlitz Places Third, Kirtley Places Fifth on Final Night of Big 12 Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving team had two Mountaineers place in the top five on the final night of the 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way, Washington.

Redshirt senior Danny Berlitz earned West Virginia's first top-three finish of the meet after placing third in the men's 200-yard backstroke. Berlitz's final time of 1:41.20 was the second fastest time in program history for that event.
Senior Miranda Kirtley kept the momentum rolling in the women's 1650-yard freestyle event as she placed fifth with a final time of 16:38.70. This marked Kirtley's third career top-five finish in the 1650 freestyle at the Big 12 Championships.
During prelims of the men's 1650 freestyle, sophomores Trevor Hudson and Parker Sterlitz posted top 10 program times for the event. Hudson placed 19th, touching the wall at 15:30.48. Sterlitz placed 20th, touching the wall at 15:31.24. Hudson's time was seventh fastest and Sterlitz's was the eighth fastest in program history.
In the diving well, junior Abigail Sullivan led the Mountaineers in the women's platform event. She placed fourth in the consolation final with 228.65 points. Senior Sarah Krusinski placed 21st in prelims with 211.10 points.
Overall, the women's team placed ninth out of 10 teams. The men's team placed seventh out of seven teams.
