MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –
The No. 24 West Virginia University wrestling team hosts Arizona State for its final match of the regular season on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. on ESPN+ at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.
The match will serve as senior day as the program will honor 11 Mountaineers. The match will also serve as Greg Jones Day as West Virginia will honor the former Mountaineer for his three NCAA National Championships.
West Virginia (9-7, 3-6 Big 12) has not competed since it lost to Wyoming on the road on Feb. 8. In the loss, senior
Jett Strickenberger earned his seventh consecutive win in the 125-pound weight class and fifth-year
Peyton Hall bounced back from his first loss of the season.
Hall is three wins from tying Jones for the program's all-time win record at 128 career wins.
Four Mountaineers are in the latest FloWrestling individual rankings. Strickenberger is ranked No. 7 in the 125-pound weight class, Hall is No. 4 at 165 pounds, redshirt sophomore
Brody Conley is No. 24 in the 174-pound class and redshirt senior
Dennis Robin is No. 25 at 184 pounds.
Four Mountaineers also appear in the second edition of the coaches' ranking and three appear in the first Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
Strickenberger is No. 11 in the 125-pound weight class, Hall is No. 4 in the 165-pound weight class, Conley is No. 23 at 174 pounds and Robin is No. 22 at 184 pounds.
Hall, Conley and Robin also appear in the first RPI for the wrestling championships. Hall is No. 2 at 165 pounds, Conley is No. 20 and Robin is 14.
Jones won the NCAA Championship as a freshman in 2002 at 174 pounds, as a junior in 2004 at 184 pounds and as a senior in 2005 at 184 pounds. Jones became the 39
hwrestler in NCAA history to win three national championships, the 20
thwrestler to win titles at two different weight classes and the 10
thwrestler to win a national title as a freshman.
He is the only West Virginia wrestler to post an undefeated season.
