MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the West Virginia University men's soccer team have been named All-Southeast Region by United Soccer Coaches.
Senior Marcus Caldeira was named to the first team while junior Pablo Pozos and graduate student Carlos Hernando earned spots on the second team. It is the third All-Region selection for Caldeira, second for Pozos, first with WVU, and first for Hernando.
In his final season with the Mountaineers, Caldeira was named the Sun Belt Player and Offenisve Player of the Year after scoring 14 goals and recording seven assists. His 35 points were the most by a Mountaineer since Jack Cardosa's 59 in 1973. He was also named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy.
Pozos earns the honor after recording 11 goals and three assists. His 25 points were fourth most in the Sun Belt and 25th in the nation. The Madrid native also earned a spot on the All-Sun Belt First Team earlier this season.
Hernando was the anchor of a Mountaineer defense that recorded eight shutouts this season while allowing less than four shots on goal per contest. Offensively, he added three goals and an assist while also being named to the All-Sun Belt second team.
