
Rifle Collects Two Ranked Road Wins

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 3-ranked West Virginia University rifle team collected two ranked wins over No. 10 Murray State and No. 12 UTEP on Sunday inside Converse Hall in Columbus.
The Mountaineers scored 4723 with marks of 2344 in smallbore and 2379 in air rifle. WVU's efforts claimed both disciplines. UTEP finished in second with a 4717 while Murray State finished third after a 4703.
For smallbore and air rifle, Senior Maximus Duncan, sophomores Jennifer Kocher, Ashlyn Blake and Camryn Camp and freshman Jack Ogoreuc served as counters.
Kocher produced the highest Mountaineer finish on the day, scoring a 1184. She produced the second-highest smallbore score of 590 and later added a mark of 594 in air rifle.
Camp and Blake each finished just behind in fourth place with matching 1181 scores. Camp used a 583 in smallbore and a season high 598 for air rifle. Her score in air rifle was tied for the best in the field. Blake hit scores of 585 in smallbore and 596 in air rifle.
Ogoreuc finished in eighth place after a 1175 (586 SB – 589 AR) while Duncan rounded out the Mountaineers in action with a 1171 (580 SB – 591 AR).
West Virginia is back on the range on Nov. 15-16 when they host the WVU Fall Classic at the Bill McKenzie Mobile Rifle Range inside the WVU Shell Building.
