
West Virginia Sweeps Duquesne, Morgan State in Season Opener

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team began the 2025 season by sweeping Duquesne and Morgan State at Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown on Saturday.

West Virginia (2-0) battled with Duquesne, pulling out a narrow, 4-3, victory. In the win, Morgantown native, freshman Lyla Byers, earned her first career win in the No. 6 singles match to secure the win for WVU.
Senior Mille Haagensen picked up right where she left off in the fall, winning the No. 3 doubles match with Byers and defeating Duquesne's Jasa Roka in the No. 1 singles match, 6-4, 6-2.
Redshirt junior Maja Dodik posted an impressive performance, defeating Alexandra O'Brien, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
The Mountaineers followed up the win over Duquesne with a dominant performance against Morgan State as they did not lose a match to win, 7-0.
