MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team completed it's first road trip of the season at the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday afternoon in University Park, Pennsylvania.
It was the first trip to the Blue and White Courses for a handful of Mountaineers, as the course will serve host to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 15.
"We had a productive trip to State College," said WVU coach
Sean Cleary. "Many of our student athletes competed on this course for the first time today. The chance to run, race and train here will hopefully become invaluable to them throughout their careers."
Sophomore
Eva Rinker ran for a personal best time in the women's 6k race, finishing first for the Mountaineers with a time of 23:07.9. Redshirt junior
Aubrie Custer finished next for WVU, with a time of 23:25.4. Redshirt junior
Zara Zervos rounded out the squad, racing for a time of 23:58.7.
West Virginia will continue competition on Saturday at the RMU Colonial Invitational. Saturday's race kicks off with the women's 5k at 9 a.m. ET, at the Youthetowne Fields in Clinton, Pa.
