MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2024-25 schedule for the West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving teams.
Head coach Brent MacDonald enters his first season at the helm for the Mountaineers after serving as the head coach at Xavier since 2009. Throughout the offseason, MacDonald rounded out his coaching staff, hiring Michael Walker as associate head coach, Mark Butcher as head diving coach, and Sydney Pickrem, James Washbish and David Dent as assistant coaches.
The 2024-25 season will officially begin with the West Virginia State Games at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown from Oct. 4-5. Last season, the men's swimming and diving team was dominant at the state games, finishing with 3,115.5 points to place first. The women's team finished second behind Marshall with 1,300.5 points.
WVU will host an Alumni Meet on Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. West Virginia will then hit the road to face Kentucky on Oct. 25, at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Kentucky. The UK women's swimming and diving team placed ninth at the 2024 SEC Championships while the men's team placed 10th.

The WVU Invitational is the final meet for the 2024 calendar year as the Mountaineers will return to action on Jan. 11 to renew the Backyard Brawl against Pittsburgh. West Virginia will face the Panthers in Pittsburgh as it looks to avenge a loss from last season.
Following the short road trip to the Steel City, the Mountaineers will return home to face Villanova on Jan. 25. The dual meet against Villanova will also serve as senior day.
