MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Randy Mazey's final season coaching the West Virginia University baseball team ended in the national rankings.
The Mountaineers ranked 13
th in polls conducted by Baseball America, D1 Baseball, and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA); they were 15
th in Perfect Game's Top 25 and 17
th in the final USA Today Coaches Poll.
It's just the second time during college baseball's modern era with multiple polling outlets that this has happened.

th in the USA Today and NCBWA polls, 20
th in Baseball America, 21
st in D1 Baseball and 27
th in Collegiate Baseball Magazine's top 30 rankings.
Prior to Mazey, West Virginia concluded its season in the top 20 once under coach Dale Ramsburg in 1982 (16
th in Collegiate Baseball) and five times under coach Steve Harrick from 1961-67.

This year, West Virginia advanced to its first-ever Super Regional berth in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where it dropped a pair of close games to North Carolina, which ended its season 48-16, ranked fifth in the country.
Mazey's 12-year tenure at WVU ended with a 372-274 overall record and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017, 2019, 2023 and 2024.
It was the first time West Virginia made back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament since 1963-64.
