
Mountaineers Highlight Day One of USF Alumni Invitational with Four Personal Bests

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team completed the first day of the USF Alumni Invitational on Friday night in Tampa, Florida at the USF Track and Field Stadium.
The day was highlighted by a slew of personal bests in the women's 800-meter run. Redshirt senior Mikenna Vanderheyden led the way in the event for the Mountaineers, finishing fourth with a personal best time of 2:06.72. Freshman Kishay Rowe followed behind in fifth place, running for a time of 2:07.62 in her outdoor collegiate debut.
Freshman Mary Delaney also had an impressive showing in her outdoor debut, finishing with a 2:12.22 time in the women's 800 meters. Redshirt sophomore Emily Bryce also had her outdoor debut on Friday night, with a time of 2:13.80 in the event.
The Mountaineers will continue competition at the USF Alumni Invitational on Saturday morning, kicking off the day with freshman Sophia Ludwig in the women's triple jump at 11 a.m. ET. Additionally, West Virginia is slated to compete in the 1,500 meters, high jump, 400 meters and the 4x400 meter relay.
The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+, while live stats also are available at WVUsports.com.
