MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –
The men's 200 freestyle relay team claimed bronze as the West Virginia men's and women's swimming and diving teams finished competition on the fourth night of the 2024 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown on Friday.
The relay team comprised of seniors
Danny Berlitz and
Roanoke Shirk, and juniors
Braden Osborn and
Conner McBeth touched the wall at 1:18.47.
In the diving well, senior
Sara Haggerty had a strong performance in the A final of the women's platform event. Haggerty finished with a 247.40 in her first appearance in the A final of the platform event at the Big 12 Championships.
Junior
Abigail Sullivan placed first in the B final of the women's platform with a 264.10.
The Mountaineers performed well in the pool throughout the evening as senior
Justin Heimes took home fourth place in the men's 100 backstroke (47.03). Sophomore
Mia Cheatwood continued her impressive week with a fifth place finish in the 100 breaststroke (1.00.60).
Senior
Joe Schaefer added points in the men's 100 breaststroke, placing sixth with a final time of 54.20.
The championship continues on Saturday with the preliminary round, beginning at 10 a.m. The finals are slated to start at 6 p.m.
