MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team completed its weekend at the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
Junior Max Green and sophomore Kaleb Wilson recorded Top 30 finishes for the Mountaineers with both golfers tying for 27th place. Green posted rounds of 67-70-75=212 (+2), while Wilson shot 75-67-70=212 (+2). Green's 67 in the first round ties his career best set last season. Wilson's 67 in the second round matches his career best set two weeks ago in Arizona.
Senior Jackson Davenport tied for 45th place with rounds of 72-70-76=218 (+8), senior Oli Ménard recorded rounds of 71-75-73=219 (+9) and junior Todd Duncan had rounds of 76-76-79=231 (+21).
The Mountaineers finished 11th with rounds of 285-282-294=861 (+21).
"It was a disappointing final round, but bright spots would be Kaleb Wilson and Max Green's continued good play," coach Sean Covich said. "Overall, we had too many big numbers that hurt us. Luckily, we have a quick turnaround and will have an opportunity next weekend to rebound."
The Mountaineers will be back in action one week from Sunday at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Dorado, Puerto Rico. Four WVU golfers will compete as individuals at the Wolfpack Individual Invitational in Raleigh, North Carolina, on Saturday and Sunday.
