
West Virginia Returns to Madison for NCAA Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team will travel to Madison, Wisconsin for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 23. This year's championships will be hosted by Wisconsin, at the Zimmer Championship Course.
The women's 6k race is slated to begin at 10:20 a.m. ET, followed by the men's 10k at 11:10 a.m. The awards ceremony will be held following the conclusion of the men's race.
Saturday's race can be viewed live on ESPNU, while live results are available at WVUsports.com.
The Mountaineers will face off against 31 teams, including 30 ranked opponents. Individuals from 33 different teams will also compete in the championship race.
Last time out, West Virginia claimed victory at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 15, clinching an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship with 41 team points. WVU was led by senior Ceili McCabe who earned her third regional title, with a course record time of 19:11.2.
The Mountaineers placed all five top runners in the top 25, as they garnished All-Mid Atlantic Region honors. Freshman Joy Naukot took sixth place, while redshirt senior Sarah Tait captured ninth. West Virginia was rounded out by redshirt junior Emily Bryce in 10th, and graduate student Madison Trippett in 13th place.
West Virginia is tabbed at No. 4 in the NCAA DI Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Nov. 18. The Mountaineers sit behind No. 1 BYU, No. 2 Oregon and No. 3 Northern Arizona in the rankings.
